BRING YOUR LEGAL KNOWLEDGE TO A FTSE 100 ORGANISATION

Deliver high-quality legal advice within one of the UK’s largest organisations, and use your LPC/DPLP to make an impact on the lives of millions.

We’re looking for influencers; people who have an eye for detail and are passionate about simplifying complex challenges helping Britain prosper. If that inspires you, find out more about our Legal Graduate Leadership Programme.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

For people looking to join a large Legal team within a corporate environment, this Graduate Leadership Programme will empower you to influence others to deliver real change while you explore your passions and interests.

Our in-house Legal team plays a critical role in our aim to be a financial organisation of the future; translating the finer details of business transactions into sound business solutions. By ensuring the Group is operating as safely as possible, they secure our ability to continue to make a difference to people, businesses and communities around the UK.

This programme is for inquisitive graduates seeking an in-house solicitor traineeship that could lead to admittance to the roll of the Law Society or Law Society of Scotland, as a qualified Solicitor. We accept candidates with either the LPC or DPLP qualification, but an interest in financial services law and regulation is also essential.

We’re working at the forefront of an industry that’s quickly transforming, so you’ll gain a lot of insight into a business that’s evolving with new digital innovations. Most importantly, you’ll discover where your strengths, ambition and passion for law can take you at Lloyds Banking Group.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Join us, and over two years you’ll experience four placements, across different business areas and locations in our Legal community.

Each placement lasts six months and will give you the opportunity to experience different teams within Lloyds Banking Group. There’s also the chance for you to complete one placement on an external secondment with a law firm too, which would typically be in dispute resolution.

Throughout the programme, you’ll build on what you’ve already learnt and gain the key skills required to practice as a solicitor. Initially, you’ll spend time getting to know various areas of financial services law and regulation through work that gradually increases in complexity as you develop on the programme. You’ll also learn what it means to be a brilliant business partner, and how to deliver solutions that put our customers first.

You’ll be part of a team that works in partnership with business stakeholders covering a range of legal areas, including: capital markets and funding; competition law; mergers and acquisitions; litigation; regulatory matters; intellectual property; employment law; property and technology, operations, digital law and broader commercial law.

While you’ll get lots of on-the-job-training and mentoring from senior leaders, there are a range of development opportunities to support your growth as a legal professional too. You’ll complete a Professional Skills Course (PSC – required training in England) or Trainee Continuing Professional Development (TCPD – required training in Scotland). Plus, we offer an excellent internal legal technical training programme, opportunities to attend events with other graduates across the Group, and the chance to lead initiatives that give back to communities too.

Locations: Our graduate programmes are rotational, so you’ll change teams and locations over the course of the programme. Our Legal roles are based in London, Edinburgh, Leeds/Halifax and Bristol.

Salary: £28,000 plus a great range of benefits.
